Black Mesa Incident [PART FOUR]
A laser burns through the broken machinery and drew a black and burned line across the wall, almost hitting Dr. Gordon Freeman. Gordon had to be very careful, because the laser could easily burn through him and slice him in half.
He crouched under the laser and saw an area where the laser could not go to. Gordon briefly looked up, and took his chance when the coast was clear. In the area was a glass door that could only open with an eye scanner. Next to the door was the corpse of a blue shift guard. Gordon out two and two together, and knew what to do.
Gordon grabbed the guard and put his face up to the scanner. Despite him not being alive, the scanner could still recognize the eyes. But unfortunately, the scanner let out an electric fuzz, and it broke. Gordon, annoyed, kicked the scanner. But when he turned around, he saw a crowbar just sitting in the corner.
Gordon grabbed the crowbar and hit the glass door with it. The glass broke and shattered in two hits.
Gordon took the corner and there was an elevator. He knew not to take it because, well, do I need to say why? Unfortunately, three of the scientists did not know, because when Gordon pressed the elevator button, the elevator came freefalling down, with three scientists in it, screaming. The elevator fell to the ground and exploded.
Gordon entered the shaft and saw a red ladder on the side of the wall, and he climbed it. At the next floor, Dr. Fredrick was doing CPR on yet another blue shift security guard. Gordon walked right past them, only to see a med kit. Gordon was quite damaged, so he took it and used it.
As soon as he did, two zombies came, strutting towards Gordon, as well as three headcrabs. Gordon held his crowbar tighter, and braced himself.
He charged at the zombie first, and began beating it up with his crowbar, while avoiding the second zombie. The first zombie, out of pain, fell on the floor, howling in pain. Gordon turned to the second zombie, and violently stabbed its head with his crowbar. The headcrabs were also attacking Gordon, scratching him with their sharp feet.
The headcrabs all had a big hole underneath their body, so a human head could fit in there like a helmet. That area is also their weak spot. Gordon found that out when he hit the hole with his crowbar, instantly killing the headcrab. He finished off the other headcrabs, and all the aliens were dead. The first zombie was dead on the floor. However, the second zombie was nowhere to be found, strangely.
But then, the first zombie began shaking. Gordon looked at it, and saw the headcrab on the zombie detach from the head, and began attacking Gordon. But this time, the headcrab managed to catch Gordon off guard, thus latching onto his head. Now, despite Gordon's heroic efforts in combat, headcrabs are physically impossible to detach alone.
Gordon stumbled around in pain as the headcrab began eating away on his head. He tried pulling it off from its two legs hanging out, but it was no use. He tried pushing the body off itself, but it was as if the headcrab one of Gordons body parts, impossible to detach with force. While Gordon was trying to get the headcrab off before its effects took over, he heard gunshots, and the headcrab started whining. Eventually, the headcrab's force let loose, and Gordon yanked it off his head. It was dead.
Gordon turned around, and saw the individual that saved his life. It was the blue shift guard that Dr. Fredricks was doing CPR on.
"Be careful, Mr. Freeman," the guard said, "these aliens are pretty unpredictable, don't you think?"
Gordon nodded and made a gesture translating to, "Thank you." He then walked off.
This is a minor upgrade for Gordon. So far, he managed to kill two zombies, and four headcrabs, all with a crowbar. Just wait 'till Gordon is equipped with fire power; THEN things will begin to get... interesting.
