Double-Crossed

Ever since the protagonist entered the building, he'd been stuck inside since. He went into the lobby, and the PA system chimed in, surprisingly, considering the building was abandoned. On the speakers was a man who claimed he got trapped in the Surveillance Room. The man asked the protagonist for help, and the protagonist agreed, but he needed help on how to free the man.

The man had accountability that the Surveillance Room keycard was located down in the Maintenance Room inside the Equipment Room. But the Maintenance Room was locked as well, and the man on the intercom had no control over the door. The only door he could control, however, was the Break Room. The man opened it and told the protagonist to check there. He went inside, and found the Maintenance Room card, but not the Surveillance Room. The protagonist grabbed it, opened the Maintenance Room door, and went downstairs. But little did the protagonist know, there was a giant blue spider lurking down there.

The protagonist entered the Maintenance Room, and was greeted by a maze of empty shelves. He got to the front, and opened the Equipment Room, which had the Surveillance Room keycard, supposedly. He went in, and grabbed it. He could free the man now! But as he left the Equipment Room, he eyed something crawling on the ceiling.

It was the blue spider. It was the size of four school backpacks. It was crawling above the protagonist, and he fled because he didn't want the spider to ambush him from above. He ran and ran until eventually, a shelf tipped over and crushed the spider to death. The protagonist let out a sigh of relief, and headed back upstairs with the Surveillance Room keycard.

He arrived infront of the door of the Surveillance Room, unlocked it, and it opened. The protagonist expected to see the man in there, but to his surprise, there was no one. The protagonist entered slowly, being very careful. He saw a note on the table, and picked it up. He read it, and it said, "IF YOU READ THIS FAST ENOUGH, I PLAN TO SNEAK UP ON YOU AND-" But the protagonist didn't have a chance to finish reading the note, because suddenly, someone ran up to him from behind and hit him in the head with a shovel...

The protagonist was on the floor, his vision blurry and dim, and heard the voice of the man on the PA system, saying, "Three birds with one stone! I get all your keycards, I get the perfect specimen, AND I don't have to deal with that spider down there! And it's all thanks to YOU!"

From that moment on, the protagonist knew he had been double-crossed.
