Navmesh VS Nodes (GAME AI)

Image
In most games, such as Garry's Mod, every NPC (non-player character) either has navigation code using navmesh or nodes. What is a navmesh? A navmesh code is when an NPC calculates how to get somewhere. Let's say we have an NPC whose goal is to get to a certain object. Navmesh squares , which are invisible 20x20 metered ground squares, allow the navmesh NPC to get to the object. When the NPC reaches the navmesh square containing the object, it will move directly towards it. What is a node? A node is when an NPC has the knowledge of where it is able to go to. Nodes are much harder to code because it is pin-point accuracy on every point on the map. A node point is an invisible stick pinned on every little piece of a map. NPC's are much, much smarter than navmesh-coded NPC's, because, the NPC has to go to a player and talk to it. The NPC quickly calculates multiple paths that it can use to get to the player and recognizes the node that the player is standing in. This is g...

Book Fair at Waldorf School (10/19,20/2022)

Image
Waldorf School had it's second book fair last Wednesday and Thursday, which was held in our gym. And many students went to buy books during their break. The students would also have half an hour DURING class time to go to the book fair. The books were also decently priced, much cheaper than any bookstore. And they had a wide variety of books in both English and Arabic. The people selling the books were nice and helpful. Hopefully, we can have more book fairs throughout the year. The Bedroom (A Short Horror Story by Noah Omar)

"Mom? Are you sure there's nothing in the wardrobe?" a boy named Tim asked. "There's nothing, sweetie, now go to sleep. You have school tommorow." Tim's mother said. She turned off the light as she walked out the bedroom.  Tim was left sleeping on his bed, staring at his wardrobe. "There's nothing in there," he assured himself. Tim felt tired and eventually fell asleep, with only the sound of his clock ticking, over and over and... over... ............... WAKE UP!!! Tim jumped up, startled. He blinked hard.  Did something just say "wake up"? Tim was unsure. It was probably his imagination. But then Tim saw something that made his heart stop. His wardrobe was slightly open... "Huh? What? How did... That's impossible!" Tim was scared and confused. He was 100% sure that his mother closed the wardrobe before she left his room. Or did she? Tim stared at it, long and hard. But all he could see inside was just his raincoat ...

Suddenly, the man is lifted up in the air by the entity, and the camera slips out of his hands and falls into the deep pit. The camera hits the bottom, and it noclips back to reality.
